Treatment, Step by Step

Early Stage: Professional Cleaning

For gingivitis, a thorough professional cleaning to remove plaque and tartar, plus coaching on home technique, is usually enough to reverse it completely.

Moderate: Scaling and Root Planing

The standard non-surgical treatment — a deep cleaning below the gumline that removes tartar from the root surfaces and smooths them so gums can reattach. The area is numbed, so it’s comfortable. Usually done in two visits. Read more.

Supporting Therapies

We may place a localised antibiotic into deeper pockets, prescribe an antimicrobial rinse, or use laser therapy to help disinfect pockets with less bleeding and soreness.

Advanced Cases

Where pockets remain deep after deep cleaning, surgical treatment such as pocket reduction, or grafting to rebuild lost bone or gum tissue, may be needed. We’ll coordinate a specialist referral if that’s the right course.

Then: Maintenance for Life

This is the part that determines long-term success. After treatment you move onto a periodontal maintenance schedule, typically every three to four months.
