Healthy Gums, Healthy You
Gentle Gum Disease & Periodontal Care
Bleeding or receding gums are the #1 reason adults lose teeth — and it’s often painless until it’s advanced. We catch and treat it gently, before it costs you your smile.

Overview
Four Out of Five Adults Have Gum Disease
Periodontal (gum) disease is one of the most common infections there is — and most people who have it don’t know, because early gum disease rarely hurts. Left untreated, it destroys the bone that holds your teeth in place.
The encouraging news: caught early, it’s very manageable. And protecting your gums protects more than your teeth — research links gum health to heart health, diabetes control and overall wellness.

Answers
Common Questions
How do I know if I have gum disease?
Watch for red, puffy or bleeding gums, persistent bad breath, receding gums, or loose teeth. Because early gum disease is usually painless, the surest way to catch it is a regular dental exam with a periodontal evaluation.
Can gum disease affect my heart or diabetes?
Yes. The bacteria from gum disease can enter your bloodstream, and studies associate periodontal disease with a higher risk of heart disease and poorer blood-sugar control. Treating your gums is an important part of managing overall health.
Is deep cleaning painful?
No — we numb the area and work gently. A deep cleaning (scaling and root planing) simply removes hardened tartar and bacteria from below the gumline so your gums can heal. Most patients are comfortable throughout and relieved afterward.
Can receding gums grow back?
Gum tissue doesn’t regrow on its own, but treatment stops the damage from progressing and, in some cases, grafting can restore lost tissue. The most important step is treating the underlying infection early.
