What Veneers Can Correct

A veneer is a wafer-thin shell of porcelain, individually crafted to fit the front surface of a tooth. Because porcelain reflects light much like natural enamel, a well-made veneer is very hard to distinguish from a real tooth — and unlike natural enamel, it doesn’t stain.

Veneers Work Well For

Teeth that are severely discoloured or stained in a way whitening can’t fix (tetracycline staining and fluorosis are classic examples); chipped or worn edges — very common after decades of use; small gaps you’d rather close; slightly crowded or uneven teeth where full orthodontics isn’t wanted; and teeth that are misshapen or a little too small.

The Process — Usually Two Visits

At the first visit we lightly prepare the tooth surface to make room for the veneer’s thickness, take impressions, and fit temporaries. The lab crafts your veneers to the shade and shape we’ve agreed. At the second visit we try them in, check the fit and appearance with you, then bond them permanently and cure the cement.

Are They Right for You?

Veneers need healthy underlying teeth and gums, so we treat any decay or gum disease first. If you grind your teeth, we’ll usually recommend a nightguard to protect your investment. And if a tooth is heavily damaged, a crown is often the better, stronger choice — we’ll tell you honestly which applies.
