Quick Answer

The Short Answer

No — getting a dental implant is rarely painful. The procedure is done under local anesthesia, so you feel pressure but not sharp pain. In fact, many patients say it’s more comfortable than having a tooth pulled. Afterward, discomfort is usually mild and easily managed with over-the-counter pain relievers.

What to Expect, Step by Step

Because the jawbone itself has very few nerve endings, placing the implant post is typically smooth — you’ll feel vibration and pressure, but the area is thoroughly numbed. If you’re anxious, we offer comfort options to help you relax.

Recovery

As the numbing wears off, mild soreness or swelling is normal and usually peaks within a day or two — most people rate it a 2–4 out of 10. Over-the-counter ibuprofen is generally all that’s needed. Many patients return to normal activities the next day.

Our Comfort-First Approach

We move at your pace, explain each step, and check in throughout. Gentle, unhurried care is the whole point of how we practice at Sun City Dentistry.
